A touch of Magic: Final Salvo.
A touch of magic
Filipinos maybe defined as one of the top importers of human labor. Our countrymen did not fail us to do such things as households, great talents in singing, acting, dancing, in sports and also a soft touch of great technology. Talents and great minds that didn’t failed us to give such honors, and winning fights. This recognition isn’t just for the sake of one person, but it is also a great achievement of such country, especially Philippines.
We all know that we belong in a third-world country, but don’t we have the guts to compete with other countries that just have the same knowledge like us? In different continents, Filipinos have already known for such awards and recognition especially in media communications and sports. And as a proud communication student, I am really aiming for that certain award soon on my future league. This is also a way of inspiring people who have such talents like this. In an article that I’ve read in an online interview, they’ve mentioned that behind the award winning movie entitled “UP”, an animation which is produced by Pixar Animations Inc., they said that a Filipino is one of the great brains who shared his talent in the field of animation. I can proudly say that, “hey that’s why Filipinos are made of!”
Do this certain things need a requirement just to be a part of the country’s success? Of course not! As long as you’re talented as well, you don’t need to meet a requirement just to fit in. However we can be as great as other countries if we showcase our talents might as well we also need to focus on such things that Philippines can be leader of something that is very unique on the eyes of another.
But of course, I will not really end this speech without sharing my full thoughts in life in regards with my topic; there is one story in my life that had a great role in Filipinos competitiveness. A good example of this is my brother’s talent. Definitely you would wonder, what’s the connection of this certain sharing of mine in the first two paragraphs that I’ve been sharing awhile ago? To make this story short and straight to point, my brother is an international magician. I bet you were laughing and start to make out a conclusion that this speaker sucks. No kidding, but it is definitely true. Bragging about my brother’s talent is really normal for a sister like me. I mean, I know that he is the youngest magician here in our country, and yet Philippines did not recognized that magicians can be also a torch bearer of this underprivileged country.
Yes a magician, you might wondering how this topic ends up in a nonsense way as you think of, but as I’ve mentioned, I want to brag about what talent my brother has. His talent is very rare especially for a kid like him. We also know that magicians in other countries are in the middle ages of thirty’s. I also enjoy magic shows in different countries in a video streaming site called YouTube. There they can actually show their talents around the world with just a click of a mouse. But of course I also want to prove to the other nations that a kind of talent like my brother has is not only for online streaming, it’s supposed to be showcased out of this country and out of a monitor.
How this talk may be an influence of globally competitiveness? A sample of it would be joining in an out of the country competition, which may be sponsored by the tourism department of our country. In that scenario tourists may be encourage to learn some magic techniques and having a mindset that magic is not only for fun, it is also a lifestyle, source of income and the like. Now that this coming June 2012, some chosen delegates from the Philippines where about to compete outside the country, and luckily, my brother is chosen to be one of the representatives of young magicians here in the Philippines. See how magic lifts up our country on such a great honor?
By simply applying your skills in living and having such great talents, we can really compete on the outbound of our country, and as I’ve said Filipinos do not only have the talents of the mainstream. Sometimes we need to put spice up in our ideas so that different genres can fit in this growing society. I know that all of us in the near future can give such honors that others can do. And before I leave the four corners of this hall, I want to leave a short saying that my adviser in high school did gave to my graduating batch. “Keep your feet on the ground if your head wants to fly. Sweet victories are always sweet when you’re doing on your own. And if others can really do, why can’t you?”
